Darko Posted January 14, 2022 Share Hey everyone, one of the bolts that supports the drinks cage looks like it's stripped and I can no longer get any meaningful purchase with the allen key in order to loosen it. Any advice?
Steady Spin Posted January 14, 2022 Share I now take these things to my local shop to deal with. Last year a pivot bolt stripped. Normally this is an easy fix. Drill a hole into the bolt and use an easy-out to extract the bolt. In this case the drill bit broke and went straight through my finger. Not my finest hour. Thomo Posted January 14, 2022 Share I had the head of one of those bolts snap of. Tried the easy-out like Stead Spin but ended up turning the mount loose. So ended up at LBS to remove and install new mount. You could try to use a slightly larger screwdriver/torx etc forced in to get purchase ... PeterF Posted January 14, 2022 Share Use a Dremel tool to cut a slot in the bolt head then you can use a flat screwdriver to remove it. Mongoose!, DIPSLICK and TheKaiser

Jewbacca Posted January 14, 2022 Share Another easy way is to drop some glue into the hole, insert the allen key and let it set. The get the bolt moving and just 'snap' the allen key out when its finger turnable but still in the threads Headshot and PhilipV
mikkelz Posted January 14, 2022 Share I once stripped the bolt in the headset on my mountain bike. 😠 Took a hammer to a flat head screwdriver and managed to unscrew the bolt. 😂 I am not sure if I recommend this approach, but it worked for me. Surprisingly effective, but you should probably use a punch rather than a screwdriver... mikkelz and TheoG

Dup08 Posted May 2, 2022 Share Reviving this thread a bit. Help me save my hub please. Stripped brake rotor bolts. Tried all possible avenues I could Google, even cut a slit into the bolt head and tried using a flat. Bolts are made of cheese it seemed and installer of these bolts used all the loctite available. Ended up having to grind it flat so that the rotor could come off. Now the question, how to remove the rest of the bolt?
