From the event website: Important notice to Riders that are licensed with a cycling association/governing body. Please be aware that we are at present not sanctioning this race with any cycling association or governing body, we are following the practice of all gravel bike events worldwide. The law states we need to comply to the Safety at Sports and Recreational Events act, 2010, which we will and have so in the past. If a cycling association or governing body provides some benefit to the participants of a gravel bike race, or UCI creates a gravel bike racing category, we will certainly consider sanctioning it with such a body. If you are a member of a cycling association, that cycling association may have rules about you entering cycling events that are not sanctioned by them, please be sure that you understand them before entering. Mamil Posted May 1, 2022 Share Lekker ride. The pass as brutal as I ever it but the descent was way more fun on the MTB than it was on the gravel bike in 2019. Well organised event with a great vibe. The only annoying thing was the complete absence of masks at the indoor registration the night before. Looked like a super spreader event and as someone who is trying to dodge the curve of the 5th wave 2 weeks before 36one I find it mystifying that there should a disregard of this simple precaution but .... On the second switchback descent about 160k in a guy opened his car door to pick up some litter on a 8% descent. I was about 100m away. 2 seconds earlier and I was a goner. "Caution Cyclists" signs needed on both sides of the pass. Most of the motorists seemed oblivious... I will rather pay the extra day license, than be stuck in a club where members "pimp" on each other, and insist that members who participated be reported, and subsequently fined. Real textbook "playground behaviour". Then I am free to decide to enter any event I wish, sanctioned or not, and just enjoy the event, because is it at the end not what the sport is about? Nick Posted May 5, 2022 Share Who's getting their fines delivered today? I hear that people who didn't enter the event are receiving fine notices. CSA has retracted the case that I know of. CSA admitted to being provided a list that is inaccurate. Any idea who provided them with a list? Would POPI come into play with list sharing?
