Steady Spin Posted May 13, 2022 Share We are planning a trip down to that side of the country in mid June. Other than Garden Route Trailpark what else would be recommended? Don’t mind a good gravel grind through the forest for one ride. Taun please don’t DM me. M L, ChrisF, gerriemtb and 7 others
Robbie Stewart Posted May 13, 2022 Share Since you have GRTP sorted; If you're up for some gnarly forest trails, Witfontein in George is an option. While there, Montague pass is always good for a long pass trek. Knysna has Kom se Pad behind Simola which is a nice trip through the old forests Knysna is famous for. Harkerville between Knysna and Plett is a must. justinafrika and Steady Spin
Cycle Fan Posted May 13, 2022 Share Plett has some AMAZING trails. Spent 3 days riding there recently. Check out Cairnbrogie MTO trails on Trailforks. As good as GRTP justinafrika, Schnavel and Steady Spin

Spokey Posted May 13, 2022 Share Harkerville Red route is a winner for me………actually, as are all the places recommended above! justinafrika and Steady Spin
wolver Posted May 13, 2022 Share This website has route maps and gpx files for the garden route: https://www.mtbtrailpass.co.za/routes-trails/ Last week I did a really nice route starting at Leisure Island going past Pezula into the Harkerville loop, then over the N2 and up Petrus se Brand, along the Concordia contours to Simola. Ended up being a 90km loop. The singletrack near Simola is also really cool. Steady Spin

As good as GRTP Back this up for sure. The red route was a classic for years but things have moved on a bit. You can do similar stuff from here and is an excellent base to ride from https://www.cairnbrogie.co.za/mtb-trails-at-cairnbrogie/ Fernery in storms river is also cool, I suppose it depends on where you are staying? Steady Spin Posted May 14, 2022 Share Thanks everyone. Looks like we will be in Brenton On Sea as home base. Drive out to the trails at least for three good rides in the 4 days we are there.

If you riding an Evil you need a playground and GRTP and MTO at Cairnbrogie are definitely that. Harkerville Red Route is very scenic and a lovely ride but not very technical. Take a look at TrailLynx - they have built some amazing trails in and around Plett. There’s a lovely trail at the Heath between Plett and Knysna. About 15km of flowy forest SingleTrack. Enjoy the riding and “Ride Evil, bleed black”. Steady Spin
Steady Spin Posted May 15, 2022 Share We have to pick 3. Witfontein Harkerville GRTP Cairnbrogie Some random foresty gravel grinds Home base will be Sedgefield.
guidodg Posted May 15, 2022 Share I would just keep riding GRTP and forget the rest:) Harkerville is nice for the views...singletrack is ok, but short and not very flowy. The route around Sedgefield over the mountain where they paraglide from is OK, just a dirt road really with some nice views on the back side over the lagoons. The Homtini routes are nice but again some short singletracks and lots of dirt roads. GRTP is just mind-blowing singletrack fun...about 60km of it Edited May 15, 2022 by guidodg Eldron, MTBRIDER1234 and babse

Witfontein is the most tech of them all but really good fun. Jewbacca Posted May 15, 2022 Share I am a huge fan of Witfontein. The trails there are amazing. The climbing is pretty compact and easy and the steeps are PRIME
guidodg Posted May 15, 2022 Share Must definitely try Witfontein next time we go to that area:)
Steady Spin Posted May 15, 2022 Share How tech are we talking with Witfontein? I’m pretty confident on the rocky stuff but my fiance is more comfortable on flow lines.
