Well is all started well!

3 Mungrels on a mission to do a 180 km ride.

The first 113 km went like a dream.

But on our way to phase 2 of the ride. Feeling fantastic, I got hit by a coward in a car.

He, like cowards do, decided to flee the scene.

Thanks to the heroic efforts of the SAPD and local security companies, he was apprehended 8km from the scene after a witness to the accident took the quick action to report his registration number on a whatsapp group.

I dont remember much as I was knocked out cold. I scan has shown that there is no brain damage. But that is because they discovered during the scan that, as everyone expected, I dont have a brain.

The coward has registered a case against me for damages to his vehicle. Claiming that I rode into him. Witnesses will prove this to be a blatant lie of a person not willing to own his shite.

While many people were looking for the vehicle for which I am eternally thankful, kudos to the Officer from Afri Forum security patrols who spotted the vehicle and ensured that the coward was escorted to the nearest SAPD station.

Well that sucks big time, sorry.

I’m glad the box was apprehended, I hope he gets what’s coming.

Fast One MTB. Windy, dusty, hard and fast. Much better than the routes from the late 00’s and early 10’s.

Nice chatting to NSBB on the route, and to my mate (pictured) for keeping the pace sensible, except for the sprint home with the tailwind.

Was going to do my usual solo LSD road ride on Sunday, but the wife suggested we drop the kids off at my folks and we go to Rietvlei.

Considering I have not found a safe, self preserving way to tell her she needs to start exercising I jumped at the opportunity.

Somehow we missed an entire section of the 15km loop, stopped a number of times up some of the hills, but she made it and she had fun, so next week we go again.

Joined a pretty big group for the Tour De Boksburg - a.k.a. riding all four trails in the Boksburg area in one go (Stadium, ERPM Golf course, RTT and Airport. ~70km total).

While I had fun, it was a little frustrating and made me realise why I'm a little selective about which groups I ride trails with. Road rides I'm pretty happy in any group, but with trails I find that the local guys are a lot more interested in racing each other uphill and dawdling on all of the downhill and technical sections, sometimes opting to skip them entirely.  Had a few maergat matric XCO bro's that were goading me for riding a "fat bike", until we got to the stadium track's jump / pump sections and I dropped them like hot lunch.

Still, at the end of the day, I'm happy to be outside in the dirt with a decent bunch of guys.
