AndreZA Posted September 24, 2008 Share Luckily we live in an almost free country where we do have the right to choose what we watch or don't watch. Just excercise that right and no one needs to get fired. I don't watch that show because I choose to.
Myra Posted September 25, 2008 Share I don't watch the show either. But if they want constructive criticism, I would suggest getting better hosts. Being a good cyclist and doing a lot for the industry doesn't make one suited for television. Oh, and being caught for doping should automatically exclude one. We all know it happens but it shouldn't be condoned by putting the guy on television as if he is an authority.
Battler Posted September 25, 2008 Share Jeez guys, Its a helluva lot better than "Oor die Kole met Kobus and Toks" or even "Inside Edge"

TNT1 Posted September 25, 2008 Share Oh' date=' and being caught for doping should automatically exclude one. And even more so when you consider that in this case, the term "authority" should be applied in a very loose sense... Unless you mean that he is an authority in something other than cycling
Joe Low Posted September 25, 2008 Share I think it would be good if did a piece on one club a week. They could cover from the racing team to the more ordianary riders, show what the club got up to & the "interesting" personalities & things that make that club a little different. Also reporting from races, particularly at the finish, would be better than just the banal voiceovers. Technical spot as someone else said would be good - i think they had that a while back. Could consider putting top rider rankings up weekly/monthly with brief interviews with those moving up or down. I'd be interested to hear why the retired ML is still getting on the podium regularly. Battler Posted September 25, 2008 Share What about a weekly spot with a top international Pro to discuss the latest innovations in performance enhancers? I'm thinking Ricco, Basso, Ulrich or Armstrong.....
Spud Posted September 25, 2008 Share supercycling is so yesterday' date=' porno music on the inserts (u expect to see paris riding naked), arnie the hypnotist(he puts anyone to sleep, even with your helmet on) andrew is so boring taking cheap shots at csa any chance he gets, owen just agrees with whatever, where the new bike launches, new products, theres so much to be excited about in cycling but not in that program.[/quote'] You could just flick over to Noleen on Three Talk! Pocketbikes Posted September 25, 2008 Share My luck, is that I met Owen before I started cycling, so I got to know him before I could hold a grudge for what he did. People do make mistakes and as far as I know, he did apologize. Many people have been caught for illegal substances, but are still around as their knowledge is useful. I always speak to him about riding techniques, different bike parts etc, and he is always helpful. As I said, I met him on a personal basis and he is down to earth. He's a normal chap, he rides a superbike as well, and we get along well. He did what he did, but in the end, he is giving back to the sport. From the feel of things, if you are caught doing something wrong, you must dissapear. Imagine the top 2 formula 1 teams being banned from everything, for the **** they caused, passing on car spec info. Teams cheating and slip streaming cars to get back to the bunch etc. These guys all made mistakes, get a fine or pulled over the coals, but in the end of the day, life goes on and we all make mistakes Maybe I am naive (sp?), maybe I like everyone I meet, but then again, this is my opinion. Myra Posted September 25, 2008 Share Pocketbikes, its not only about the doping. Owen is, in my opinion, not a good presenter, and doesn't add much value to the programme. There are hundreds of cyclists in South Africa with useful cycling knowledge, who have not been caught, and I'm sure that some of them would be better presenters. That's just my opinion. But maybe I'm wrong, maybe he's improved a helluva lot since I stopped watching.

ASTANA Posted September 25, 2008 Share Really pathetic' date=' now you cant even state your opinion without someone telling you to change channels or "its the only one we got" - well so what?? We only have one surfing show too, its also pathetic, oh and we only have one fishing show, but I quite like that one.! As for switching channels, very old school, maybe we just want to see if it gets better, maybe its so pathetic we are glued there just to see if its really believable, whatever, why dos there always have to have a reason, maybe we just felt like it - how about that.!! As for me, I dont scare easily,............... so heres my opinion, tonight I sort of watched wondering if any mention would be made on the "tremendous future and great health of cycling in SA", - how naive of me, but I continued in hope because its probably the first the first time in maybe 6 months - the show hasnt changed, its still pathetic, if you are older than 16, the music played over the clips is just irritating, has Owen EVER had an opinion of his own, or maybe one slightly differant to Andrews, and who is really interested in a track been built somewhere, maybe they can include the one down the road from me next, its been knocked up by a few intrepid folk who sleep there over night and use the stream for their daily clothes washing, theres piles of garbage you can jump over and if you are lucky you will have a few non paying spectators. .............and really, get rid of that ageing logo and even worse voice over, its gets tiresome hearing Phil mumble on about "the back wheel of Zabel" 200 times a year. I couldnt take it after the Bluff race and switched off so I didnt see the Owen episode, but I am sure it was "riviting" viewing.!! Unlikely I will be watching it again!! Go ahead hit the flame button - see if I care. [/quote'] This is great man!! could not aggree more. We don't need to just accept everyting and not say something bad, "because its the only one". bull sh*t with that mentality.. Say what you think and if someone disaggrees So.F.What
Cocaine Posted September 25, 2008 Share In my opinion the problem with Supercycling is they take themselves way to seriously... that and they rehash the same old boring tips over and over again (ie. how to ride in an echelon)... They need to have some fun with the show... they should try be a bit more like the guys on Top Gear... just have fun... If I watch supercycling I want to be entertained, not just told the info in the same manor as the SABC News... I don't know about you but I'd love to see them clowning around a bit... taking the piss rather then always being so serious... after all cycling is supposed to be fun right?
