Groot Lem Posted January 10, 2007 Share Good, no one could work with him anyway. A bit big for his boots. Did he also resign as selector. Who will pay him his R10 000 retainer now

pedal Posted January 10, 2007 Share Politics are killing cycling........ but a resignation will not make anyone stand up and check out the situation, some other person will just step into the vacant space. TH maybe has tried and tried, and given up, like most others out there.I always used to wonder why 'Moms and Dads' left cycling when there children moved up in the age groups.... found out for myself.... POLITICS & POWER and nothing else matters.... certainly not cycling.

Groot Lem Posted January 10, 2007 Share A manager gets good results with good riders, players. Look at Johan Bruyneel, seemed he could do nothing wrong when Lance was there, and in 2006, they were really bad. Tony got good results with the right riders, allthough the performances of Hunter at Olympics and Worlds not good at all, most under Tony. But hats off with the Langkawi performances, good for him. I just think he needs to get more on his CV than "the guy who discovered/managed/made money out of???" Hunter. The questions cause I'm not 100% sure of the facts. I also think he ignored Cape riders and racing too much as national selector. There were about 3 Cape riders nominated by other national selectors for the Langkawi training camp, he just laughed at the names. Cape Town also produced 2 SA champs in the vets road champs, both ignored for worlds.

scotty Posted January 10, 2007 Share Tony did not strike me as much of a hero, but everyone was envious as he always seemed to attract the prettiest ladies.
rock Posted January 10, 2007 Share Look at the facts' date=' since he came around we qualified 6 elite riders for worlds not only 2. [/quote'] ja, him and a change in the UCI rules and the inception of UCI Continetal circuits. but some good points made there.
SUPPORTER Posted January 10, 2007 Share My personal opinion.... there goes the last hope for any change in SA cycling. Truly a sad loss to cycling. Agree with Manbat 100%. Maybe not a "peoples person" but got the job well done. Now my friends see if ANYONE else can get CSA's officials to change just an inch. Well Tony, may you find greener pastures and enjoy it.
