Brakkies Sport Fotos Posted February 21, 2007 Share Ok, I've got a 9speed Ultegra groupset with FSA Carbon cranks. Can you buy "pieces" and get it to 10 Spead? I don't want to buy a new groupset? I will have to give away the carbon cranks if I re sell. What is the best option? I cannot go to campy as I got 4 sets of shimano wheels, shimano tools etc.
TitusTi Posted February 21, 2007 Share You need STI's, a cassette and a rear derrailleur, that's it.
Mudsimus Posted February 21, 2007 Share And chain
bikemonster Posted February 21, 2007 Share TitusTi - do you even need the new rear der? The rear der goes where the STI's tell it to go, and I would have thought that with the narrower 10 speed cogs the 9 speed der would have sufficient movement to cover it? (Not trying to be overly clever here, just asking the question.)
Brakkies Sport Fotos Posted February 21, 2007 Share my chain and casette is due for replacement. So , I'm looking at Sti's and "maybe" a derailer So. let me have a chat to CWC.

Brakkies Sport Fotos Posted February 21, 2007 Share Titus, before I phone CWC, I only need the sti's, chain and cassette??
TitusTi Posted February 21, 2007 Share Personally I would go with a rear mech as well, but you shouldn't technically need it.

101% Posted February 21, 2007 Share 4 sets of shimano wheels... That would require you to buy 4 cassettes ....unless you swop cassettes when you change wheels..
Mudsimus Posted February 21, 2007 Share Technically the rear mech should work. I agree with TT..get the rear der aswell.
scotty Posted February 21, 2007 Share Might you also not need hubs as not all 9spd hubs can take 10spd. I know when i changed my cluster from 9spd to 10 spd Cyclelab had to check first if my hub could take it .
