Spinergy wheels

Anyone know anything about these wheels?

Still looking for a wheelset...

Looking at making the purchase in the next month or so...

Had my mind set on XT hubs (maybe DT Swiss if I can scrape the cash together), Mavic XM819 32h rims and DT Swiss Competition 2mm spokes...

But nothing wrong with keeping my options open Wink...

Bearing in mind I am a frame-bending +/- 110 kg's...

I came across these beauties - they retail for about R5000...

What you all think?

Could I do worse/better?

Can only say my boetie rides with those on his S-Works EPIC and he is very happy. Rides XC and marathon pretty hard and no problems yet! BTW his bike is Matt black with white writing. Remember everyone keeps reminding us that looks are crucial to performance!

Pretty bling though for an MTB don't you think?

Thanks BB...

Ja must say - I'm more into understated than flash...

Which is a bit of a bugger with these Confused...

Having said that - I'm upgrading a pretty old bike, and am trying to stay away from main-stream components - trying to put some thought into everything and eventually end up with a more individualised ride...

I know that Spinergy is not exacly niche-market... but they are still not as common-place as the Mavics' of the world...

So this places me in a rather pleasurable dilemma!

Think they'll handle my wieght?

Oh sorry FC - missed your post whilst typing mine...

So good to go?

In comparison with my XT/DTswiss/Mavic/DTswiss option [mentioned right at the top] - these do as a good job?

Those seem to me like downhill specific rims. They're flippen heavy plus the fact both front and rear are available in thru-axle version. DH or FR specific definitely.

planning on some serious Downhilling are we?

Those are Downhill wheels and probably won'taccept a narrower XC tyre

Thanks Mint & Lefty...

Definitely not a downhiller - am simply not crazy enough...

Scrap this plan then...

Will pm Sara to confirm what Mampara was wondering about....

Maybe this is what I should be looking at, rather than the Fall-line above...
