Ivanb Posted April 12, 2007 Share We are thinking of opening a centre that will allow you to train, get prgrammes and be assessed by professionals. You will be able to get VO2 max, lactate, performance diagnostic, max performance diagnostics, be taught strength and functional training and plyometrics. What do you hubbers think? Would you make use of it? What would you think is fair to pay? would you prefer to pay per test or have a 1 year contract etc It will be open for allsports and for all fitness requirements. starclassic Posted April 12, 2007 Share Great idea! I'd use it for sure, and I reckon a yearly fee is always better - It's nice to track your progress regularly!
AndreZA Posted April 12, 2007 Share Very interesting, yes I'll be interested. Just don't make it too expensive.
scotty Posted April 12, 2007 Share Sounds good, i would make use but perhaps have both options as i would only like an initial assesment. My type of riding i have difficulty trying to outsprint blue rinse grannies riding shopping basket bicycles.
E1A104 Posted April 12, 2007 Share Good idea. Offer both options.

Christie Posted April 14, 2007 Share How about offering an expert bikefitting service? Have yourself/someone certified as a serotta advanced fitting specialist (or equivalent) in the USA, get the all the propper tools. The fit most bikeshops do look very amateurish, and is not worth paying for. Cyclelab slightly better than most, but still not up the shop in this article:http://www.pezcyclingnews.com/?pg=fullstory&id=2475
Ivanb Posted April 14, 2007 Share But will the guys pay? Christie, its the same with servicing R200 or so its too cheap thats why we battle to find excellent mechanics. Those bike fitting systems are R30000-R50000so a fit has to be probably R300 - R550
Christie Posted April 14, 2007 Share You are right, the average cyclist wont pay R500 to R1000 for a bike fit. Another problem would be to retain staff. Good mechanics are a problem, too. After having my bike messed up by guys who were supposed to be the some of best in the business, I've swithched to doing the work myself.
Ivanb Posted April 15, 2007 Share How many guys do you think wuold be interested in doing an official bike servicing course?
Christie Posted April 15, 2007 Share Hmm, perhaps more than would opt for an expert bike fit. But then again, a lot of folks prefer to have it serviced for them. Perhep the focus should be on a course for bike mechanics?
Delgado Posted April 15, 2007 Share Yup!! It would help eliminate guesswork at times!
