Training for the Crooze

Hi need some tips for training for the Crater Crooze.I've done all of the 100km races but every year I k@k on this race .You pro's how and where do you train , a) where do you train... on the road or off road b) if on the road what bike do you use road or mtb.

if your targetting this spefic race and you got about 7 weeks, I suggest log-on to the Polar website and get a 6 week TP and stick to it. 7 hour ride the week before? I would rather think this week should be spent increasing your V02 max.

I am getting towards the end of a 12 week program ending in the Crater Cruise. This week = Mon Rest, Tuesday 5 km run, Wed 5km intervals run, Thurs 5 km intervals, Friday 10km easy run, Sat rest and Rugby, Sunday 2 x Suikerbos on MTB on the tar = 6 hours ride with 2.5km climb. This is actual time spent in this week. Remember to taper for at least 2 weeks. Just a thought. O yes do your weekend rides in the sun and heat to get used to it.

It works for me, and my best time is 5hrs.
