widget Posted May 7, 2007 Share Yes, its very good and (I think I saw him mentioned in the tour of Romandy) as well. Obviously showing some good form right now and with his contract coming up for renewal within the year he is getting good coverage.

AndreZA Posted May 7, 2007 Share Is he the first Saffa to ride the Giro? No, I think one of our okes took a stage there aswell ones. They made him give it back. He blamed the previous government.

epoh Posted May 7, 2007 Share Is he the first Saffa to ride the Giro? http://www.cyclelab.com/default.asp?id=186309&des=article But alas, due to sanctions and South Africa's policy of Apartheid, it wasn'tto be. Ertjies, along with Robbie McIntosh and Alan van Heerden, were leftto their own devices in Europe, racing under alias names for fear of beingthrown out of Europe. When they did race under their own names, they couldn't afford to getresults, because of fear of their identity becoming public. That's the mainreason why Van Heerden, who won a stage in the Giro d'Italia, never lined upfor Peugeot in the Tour de France.
