Even a world class component producer like Shimano can make a mistake. OK my dear old dad said that I should never ever get rid of my 7 figure log book, slide rule and facit because these new fangled computers everyone is talking about will never take on!!!!!!!! I wondered why the hub was so quite when you where "away" in SA!What Muddy & Zaskar said, but on you question ("could I go to my LBS and rearrange my cluster to easier gears or is it a stock standard thing?") - maybe. The top 4 (?) sprockets are grouped with the bottom ones either paired or loose. I would not upgrade to 10s for the sake of it, but would rather wait until I have to. Hmm, more in keep with my current form...The oh-so-attractive-plumber-look slightly adapted (and some would say perfected) to suit the cycling genre.
