Sunblock Posted May 25, 2007 Share smeek? are you so desperate? No if you're going to put info up about me (notice you leave out this year's Argus result), then I think it's fair to provide access to my blog for those individuals who particularly care about genuine info. I don't think I am such a great example of someone to put on a pedestal,. either as an excellent cyclist or not. like with most things, it's not so black and white. I've had awesome races, and not so awesome races. But you make a very good point. you're as good as your last race. Unfortunately, thanks to the CSA and the local Einsteins, I wasn't allowed to ride the last local race, and am currently prevented from riding anything. I wasn't in the shape of my life., was quite heavy, but as you'll see from the Argus times (improving all along), I wanted to break through the barrier. Hence the big training week of 26 hours, taking a week off work. We all know it's not easy to get back into it when you've gotten vrot. So having done all that effort to get into shape, and have some klasvakie from the Free State look on his little sheet of paper, and vomit some garbage about licenses - show no incentive to allow a motivated to ride, that system and those people need to change. Not sure how other riders who love cycling and taking part, who love competition can argue with that.
Brakkies Sport Fotos Posted May 25, 2007 Share nope did not leave it out, i dont think its on the result page. Sorry, i missed it. I still think you need to stop stirring and rather go out for some training 2007/03/11 Cape Argus Pick 'n Pay Cycle Tour 109 03:08:17 2333/28631 2194/22392 C 266/318 popeye2007-05-25 08:12:
Sunblock Posted May 25, 2007 Share Very self-indulgent, but since you're asking I think my 2005 timetrial in the Ironman was good, not based on time or average speed, but on training, getting sick etc.If you look at my Argus I think I did a terrible 3:30. Was dead afterwards, used the Argus to see if I'd be ready for the Ironman, and really didn't feel like I was ready. But went to PE, stayed in a hotel for a week (no training) and on the day, woke up and felt great.Under those circumstances (recovering from a strep throat in first week of March) I managed a 6 hour 180km ride. It's not an awesome time, but it was a faster average I believe than my Argus time (done in groups etc).My first ever TT on my Zipps was a 90km TT in a half ironman in 2:21 (37km/h). But I think I've already said that. I need to update these results, but as I say ad nauseum, wanted to do that this year, at this year's SA TT. Guest colonel Posted May 25, 2007 Share A close mate of mine from Upington did pretty much that time on a MTB bike with Slicks at the Ironman.
goofs Posted May 25, 2007 Share Sunblock dude there's no way you are lic material, and i actually endorse CSA, FS cycling, local church bazaar or whoever not giving you a lic. Ask yourself this question, am i even good enough to beat the other fun riders in my batch group ? The answer lies in your batch group position. NO !. Get a life. Canaris Posted May 29, 2007 Share Sunblock thanks for the gesture. I am sure many appreciate your willingness to help. However, please STOP trying to defend, discuss, brag or refer in anyway to your illustrious cycling career and your superhuman results. It just gets annoying, and allows for much self abuse on the hub. (We can all dredge up each others results ad nausium) Rather let your behaviour in training rides and at races (on the bike) and off the bike be a measure of your success. Kind regards
Groot Lem Posted May 29, 2007 Share sonblok, do you see yourself ever racing with a licence. why dont you sort your issues out while everyone will be in bloem?this country cant afford to have a talent like you go down the drain.
Sunblock Posted May 29, 2007 Share GH, I don't know if I will be racing again (beyond the Argus), to be honest. Meanwhile, back to the topic here, I will be taking high quality 7MEGPixel pics at SA's, so if you would like photos of yourself looking cool (aka hot and sweaty) on the TT, email me your race number, time and pref. cell no: to nickvanderleek@gmail.com
