I also think the road up to the mast in Tokai is a monster, 11km of sheer toughness, but the view at the top is breathtaking. It's got gravel and all kinda cr@p on it. As well as the problem of killing yourself going up and not being able to warm down once you get to the top. Obviously I've still ridden up a few times, but it's a struggle. We lived at the top on the corner, we've had two trucks fail to make the corner and freewheel/topple over into our fence!
