Heavyweight Posted February 14, 2010 Share What is the difference between campy and shimano clusters and chains? Can ultegra/dura ace chains and clusters be used with campy record groupset? Which is compatible with what?
Ha Ha Kieran Posted February 14, 2010 Share SRAM is compatible with Shimano. Not sure if they are compatible with Campag though
Minion Posted February 14, 2010 Share Regarding 10sp road groups: The spacing on the clusters is different: Campag has a sprocket every 4.12mm and Shimano every 3.95mm. The thickness of the sprockets is also different: Campag is 1.6mm, Shimano 1.7mm If you use a Shimano cluster with a Campag rear derailleur and shifters you will not be able to get clean shifting across the entire gear range and vice versa. The chains both have the standard 1/2" pitch and 3/32" internal width. The external widths are near enough that I suspect you could get away with swapping chains...until the style police catch you. techguy Posted February 15, 2010 Share Yes you can swop the chains over between the two but cassettes are a no go... as Edman has posted.
