Diesel Posted June 25, 2007 Share Wat gaan aan in Gauteng Noord Fietsry, 5 jaar trug was daar 2 "races" n naweek. Retief Freysen is n jaar trug as "Chairman" ingestem.

Hendrik Petoors Posted June 25, 2007 Share So ver ek verstaan is bywoning die grootste probleem. What is it that cyclists require. I think that cyclists killed cycling in Gauteng North by not supporting local races due to the cost to enter races.    Cyclists in Pretoria were very spoilt in the past. They expect classic type of events for R 40. Families of 5 expected to enter a race for R 120 for all of them.   Due to high organising costs organisers were not prepared to pay in to have races which are not supported.   Everybody is sick of racing at Rooiwal. Where else is suitable venues.   We are so spoilt thet we are not prepared to travel to say Klipdrif for a race.   Cyclists boycotted races. ewep Posted June 26, 2007 Share Problem is that cyclists were taken for a ride by the organizers. To pay R110 for a 28km ride (thanks Rooiwal!!!) is crazy. Or R80 for a 40km with a *** medal and some hot coke at the turnaround point (Vanderbijl). That is what killed the local races, get rich quick schemes! But the other side (as per fyndraai). Cyclists expected to pay R40 for 40km, but get full road closure, etc, which is impossible!
Maar daar was races by Samcor, Trade centre (gestop vir duidelike redes), Klipdrift, Phumula, ROOIWAL, Polisie Rondawel, BMW, Buffelspoort, Brits, etc.
Spinnekop Posted June 26, 2007 Share Give me a race every month at the Union buildings early on a Saterday or Sunday morning. Parcial road closure with a R70 entry fee, no water tables, invite the family to come watch the circuit racing... Make it a R100 win in each cat and winner of most points over 5 races wins a frame. Make it individual so that clubs can compete within..... I'm in.....

Canaris Posted June 26, 2007 Share Diesel, and you are? Have you taken your concerns up with Retief? If so what is his response? It is a would be a bit low to attack him on a public forum without giving him a chance to defend himself first. Is it his personal fault that clubs cancel races which were allocated to them on the GN calendar by GN, or is it the clubs fault? Yes, GN Champs did occur, but was in my opinion poorly advertised. (maybe it was my fault as I did not attend club meetings at the time due to ill health). Lastly, please remember the "chair" and the secretary are only two members of a committee. Sometimes they cannot do everything. I hope you can resolve your differences with Retief without further damaging the cohesion of what seems (by your description) an already weak GN committee.
Diesel Posted June 26, 2007 Share Hi Kona my naam is Vernon Wubbeling. Net besorg oor my Profinsie !!! nochain Posted June 26, 2007 Share Konafan,Rabubi mentioned already that they struggle to get any answers out of them.I have to agree that something needs to be done ,you can only look at the way GN Champs(should be there flagship event)Â were organized and you have to know nothing is happening!!!!We had to wait until the morning of the race to find out what distance we will be doing and what time we will start!!Spinnie very good suggestion!!!(how's the hand feeling??)
