PELETON?!

I was quite surprised to read my brand new Bicycling magazine and find that their Tour de France guide permanently refers to the group of riders as the 'peleton'!  Last time I checked it was spelt peloton!

Maybe their spellchecker had the day off or that really is the Sarf Efrikin spelling? You don't expect that from a BICYCLING magazine?  Am I confused or is there something else wrong here?

a couple of years ago, i did a bit of proof-reading for ride mag - when sean was still the ed - and i made a whole whack of corrections on nearly every page. i remember the designer coming in, giving me this crazy look and saying: "that's too many things for me to fix!" so she didn't ?
