Musashi Posted March 4, 2010 Share My wife wants to join me on long and ultra-long mountain bike rides so we need to get a good dual suspension bike for her. Budget is R15,000 to R18,000. The problem is that second hand bikes in her size are few and far between so we'll probably go new. What would you recommend? Scott Spark 50Giant AnthemMerida One Twenty TFS 700-D or 800-DAnything from Specialized?Anything else? Obviously I want to get as much info as possible before making the decision. All input welcome! Desi Posted March 4, 2010 Share Buy her a Commencal. It's a fantastically comfortable ride, and you'll get a good new bike for your budget. Also look at this thread - don't know where the bike is, but it's fantastic value at the current price: https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=71099&KW=commencal
cat-i Posted March 4, 2010 Share let her decide .... let her ride the bike and see what feels best - the bike will choose her.
Desi Posted March 5, 2010 Share Isn't there a 'ride before you buy' in your area soon? I found this a great way to ride some different bikes and get a feel for them. That's where I rode a Commencal, and decided that that was the dual suspension I was going to buy. Check Bicycling magazine or their website to see when the next 'ride before you buy' event is. Cat-i is right: the bike will choose her!
