A good range of DIY bits such as cables, housings, brake pads, bearings, and assorted nuts & bolts. A selection of good tools is also important

I agree here , most lbs never seem to be open when you need one the most.

I drive 70km every time I need something! It's not event because of the best prices, but because I get good service!

 

 

 

Anybody else drive that far to buy cycling stuff?

I have just driven to Rustenburg from where I live in Magalies (about 60km) for a new saddle and some spares, could have gone to K/Dorp (30km) but the service is much better in Rustenburg and the shop is much bigger and better stocked.

Honesty - Test them with a question you know the answer to. See if they give the right answer or a lot of BS and try to convince you that you need a more expensive option.

I just someone who does what they need to and tell me they will do. little things like actually phoning me back when they say they would, or actually fixing my bike, and not give me a different answer time after time for the same problem.
