SkyDancer Posted March 27, 2010 Share Boksburg - A cyclist was killed after being struck by a car in Boksburg on Saturday, Ekurhuleni metro police said. Metro police spokesperson Kobeli Mokheseng said the accident occurred at around 05:00 at the corners Rondebult and Leeupoort roads in Boksburg. His body was found by a metro police officer on the side of the road and his bicycle a few metres away. The man was believe to be in his 50's. Although the cause of the accident was not clear, preliminary investigations revealed that the man was struck by a car from behind. The driver of the car fled after the accident. A case of culpable homicide has since been opened. "We are appealing to cyclist and to people jogging, always ride or run in numbers where it is safe to do so when exercising," said Mokeseng. jmaccelari Posted March 27, 2010 Share Just read this on new24. My condolences. <CYNICISM> I note the report says cyclists should ride in a group. If this poor guy was in a group, I wonder how many would have been killed then? </CYNICISM>

Tiny K Posted March 28, 2010 Share I hate to say it but, I hope the driver meets a bridge....fast. It's not speed that kills, it's the idiot behind the steering wheel. My condolences to his family. May they be at peace during this awful time.
