Custom Build Giant Trance

After 4 months of searching for a Giant Trance  XL frame one finaly turned up with an RP23 Fox shock to boot.

<DIV>1st order of business is a front fork. I had a Fox 100mm RL on my Anthem and to be honest it was not strong enough. I broke the rebound springs twice. A Rock Shox Revelation 120mm with at least a 15mm axle has been recomended. Any thoughts from those in the know?</DIV>

A Fox RL with coil springs? And what is a rebound spring anyway?

 

Coil springs that compress fail in fatigue not in tension or torsion as suggested. In other words, if you squash the spring flat, it won't break because it cannot be bent past the critical point since the coils all stack on top of each other.

 

Still, that RL with springs intriques me.

 

The continuous cable mod is good, just don't let the frame gaurantee police see you.

Now for some wheels.

Need to choose some wheels, been following a few threads.

 

1. Must be open bearings not cartridge.

2. Must have 20 mm thru axle.

3. Must be tubeless.

4. Rims need to be aluminium.

5. Must be strong.
