smartguy Posted March 30, 2010 Share What is power to weight in cycling terms? Any experts out there that can spread some light on this PLS
Minion Posted March 30, 2010 Share Power to weight is the amount of power you can output over a particular duration divided by your weight (usually bodyweight). If you can average 450W for 5min and weigh 75kg, your 5min power to weight ratio is 6W/kg. When they quote power to weights for pro cyclists, they usually refer to threshold power i.e. the max power they can sustain for 60min. Hector Posted March 30, 2010 Share Your power to weight ratio is one of the most acturate ways of measuring your increase fitness and performance. Buying a Power Meter - even a Polar CS600 for starters will allow you to monitor your progress with much more accuracy and makes training a lot more focused.
