goatman Posted April 9, 2010 Share Where can I buy a relatively inexpensive but bright LED torch with handlebar mount to use as a backup light on my mtb? Seems like the good LED torches are way expensive in South Africa, and handlebar mounts non-existent? I guess I could make my own bar mount with some O-rings and patience... I have seen these bar mounts for torches advertised on DealExtreme:

Jeffrsnapln Posted July 26, 2010 Share You've probably come right by now, but have a look here: www.ledlenser.co.zaThe M7 is very suitable and you can get a nice bike mount for it.

(Where you based? I might be able to get one to you) I have a cree LED torch which I got from a camping supply store a few years ago for about R150. It's bright enough for most things, I usually keep it as my backup. You could also get one of those lights from dealextreme, lots of variety. They have the "equivalent" of the Magicshine in handheld torches, obviously some are better quality and have better drivers. Also most of them are completely customizable, just ordered an empty host, ie no LED or driver, will be putting my own CREE MC-E (equivalent to P7) and driver in it. wernerhp Posted July 26, 2010 Share LED Lenser P7 is a great multi-purpose flash light. 200 lm and not too expensive. There's also a B7, which is the same as the P7, but comes with a bike mount. I got my P7 from New World @ R460. The guys from Awesome Tools (www.awesometools.co.za) who I think import these lights, had the bike mounts seperately @ R30, which they sent to New World for me to collect. Overall a very nice light. Battery heat causes it to dim a bit after about 2 hours of constant burning, so be sure to turn it off when you don't need it.
