FrancoisO Posted May 3, 2010 Share I want to buy myself a light for my MTB. What would you guys suggest on the brightness? I have seen lights that are 200, 500 or even 960 lumens.
AndreZA Posted May 3, 2010 Share What is your budget? With great Lumens comes bad price tags.
FrancoisO Posted May 3, 2010 Share Do not want to spend more than say R2000-00. What is Lumens, and how does this compare to candle light say 400 or 80 Candle light?

The Guy in Pink Posted May 3, 2010 Share I also use exposure lights, the Maxx D . The guys with Sigma lights recon that their lights start casting shadows when I am behind them.

Borriz Posted May 4, 2010 Share Lets put it in perspective. The Magiclight is so bright I use it as flood light to inspect my property when the alarm sounds. It is the nest as far as brightness, weight, size and battery life.
splat Posted May 4, 2010 Share I am ordering mine today.Just waiting for Brad to get back to me with EFT details. The Hope's don't have the best reviews and have been around for a while i.e. technology has moved on.
Bike Mob Posted May 4, 2010 Share it seems Magiclight has the market sewn up... Are they really that good and cheap that no other manufacturer can compete?
splat Posted May 4, 2010 Share The Deal Extreme lights are the next best.I think they are similar (if not the same), but ordering them can be sketchy because of stock and you get no local back-up. They are a lot cheaper though.

With only a 3 month warranty localy thats not a bad option then. This one sell it allot cheaper the the other local guy plus give 6 month warranty.https://www.bikehub.co.za/forum_posts.asp?TID=80929&KW=magic fastbike2010-05-04 04:47:
mountain_lion Posted May 4, 2010 Share it seems Magiclight has the market sewn up... Are they really that good and cheap that no other manufacturer can compete? The magic light is an example of what the Chinese do best. Copy and manufacture cheap. It is a direct rip-off of the Lupine Tesla. Thus no R&D costs. It is actually so cheap that it is difficult to buy the parts for a decent DIY light for less (but I still prefer to build my own).It is not perfect, but offers good value for money.
