racman Posted July 29, 2007 Share I have just bought a set of carbon wing bars and am going to build the new bike on Monday. The question is - Do you tape the whole bar (including the flat wing) or stop just past the ergo's/Sti's ? (I bought a used RavX Helix carbon bar if that helps)
no.one.knows Posted July 29, 2007 Share no just after the sti's. more bling that way!!! everyone likes to see a little flesh... um i mean carbon!
racman Posted July 30, 2007 Share I suppose it's pointless paying for carbon if you can't show it off.
AndreZA Posted July 30, 2007 Share I suppose it's pointless paying for carbon if you can't show it off. or if you can get aluminium that's lighter for half the price.

E1A104 Posted July 30, 2007 Share Or get some clear, gel bar tape from Cinelli ....
racman Posted July 30, 2007 Share All of the above comments are true except ... I could not refuse the offer of the slightly used bars for R600 - (normal price abot R1600) and the stem for R200 (normal price is approx R600)!

AndreZA Posted July 30, 2007 Share Okay, if it were ITM Sword or Ritchey's then okay flaunt it, but RavX??? Even Rasmussen had painted PRO just so that he does not get frowned upon.
racman Posted July 30, 2007 Share Mampara - I was pleasantly surprised by the quality, although they don't have the "bling" name as others. I think their products are a bit underrated. But Hey - fro R800 I can live with it ! (now if only I can get a bargain price on a set of new and faster legs!!!) Besides - I also managed to get some ITM stickers from one of the TdF teams. (they also have Specialised sticker for sale !!!)
racman Posted July 30, 2007 Share How to start a hot thread - mention the word "Carbon". How to kill a thread - mention "RavX" or "BBB"

It's jus tthat some people will pay R2000 for a RAVX carbon bar when they can get a much better Easton/Ritchey/ITM alu bar for alot less. Now if you get a RavX seatpost your bike will look nice. I always like to pair up stuff.
racman Posted July 30, 2007 Share Mampara - I did get a RavX carbon seatpost but I was hesitant to say so in case it was even more uncool. Was considering getting carbon Easton & Ritchey but the prices .... The difference in what I paid for all three items enabled me to upgrade to a Polar Cs200 and get a new pair of cycling shoes!!!
