7-8 hours a weekend should see you through. There are no hills, just lots of sand & then some more sand.

Enjoy!! It is a nice ride.

We dont call it sand,we call it horizontal hills

Anyway there is very little sand, just lots of single track, ball bearings and thorns.

Any reasonably fit marathon mtber will be comfortable.

See you there

PS

Riding some of the course this weekend

Take sand tyres...like continental mountain kings or specialized captain controls

The race is not that hard...just very rocky, sandy, thorny and flat in respective sections

A full suspension bike is preferable(for rocky section) but you will be ok on a hardtail

Put plenty of sealant in your tyres, preferably running tubeless

Its really cold there at night (in the negatives), take very very warm clothing and warm sleeping bag. It will warm up during the day when you are riding.

Keep a good eye out for route markings, dont just follow the person(s) in front of you, its easy to take a wrong turn.

Otherwise just your normal multi day event stuff.

Thats enough hours of training to get you through the event comfortably.

Have fun its a great event

I'll echo that. Awesome weekend. I have ridden it three times, but can't make it this year. One thing is that it gets very cold overnight. Last year was -6. Scraping the ice off your tent when trying to take it down, certainly wakes you up. Enjoy the ride. Great bunch of guys in Gabs. Used to live there myself and ride with them.
