Stretched@Birth Posted August 10, 2010 Share Edit - Sorry, this should have gone into Chit Chat, any way to move it? Ok, so after much deliberation, I bought a new ride some months ago. Now, collecting dust in my garage are my 2 old bikes. One is a Giant ATX 860 with Deore bits and pieces, the other is a Trek VRX 400 pogo stick with LX, Icon and Avid parts. The options: 1. Buy a cheapish alu frame and transplant the bits for a bike for the missus (who wants to do the odd trail ride with me) and turn the Giant into a single speed. 2. Trade them in on a complete new bike for the missus (not sure that I'll get much for them on trade in) 3. Sell the VRX 400 as a "retro" ride. 4. Buy a bigger garage, new bike for the wife and grow the collection...? Any thoughts are welcome...
Mecnic Posted August 10, 2010 Share I ueed to have an old VRX was the start of good things. I would say get the missus a new bike, one that is exactly her size she'll enjoy riding it more anyway unless you have sentimental value attatched to the bike I'd probally sell them off to generate some money. BUt post some pics of the bikes then we can see what we are dealing with
Hairy Posted August 10, 2010 Share Option 4 + 5 (Grow the collection and play with that "retro" bike and SS option at the same time .... oh also grow your workshop tools)
Dirtbreath Posted August 10, 2010 Share Flog it on the hub for a fortune and fund a cool holiday! Seriously, there are many people looking for good, cheap beginners bikes that you could help them with.
Stretched@Birth Posted August 10, 2010 Share Option 4 + 5 (Grow the collection and play with that "retro" bike and SS option at the same time .... oh also grow your workshop tools)The workshop tools grow every time I enter a bike shop... You can never have too many tools. As for the retro stuff, there's a pile of bits and pieces in my dads garage, waiting to be translocated when my bigger garage comes...
