alan4251 Posted August 13, 2010 Share What is the ideal front and rear suspension pressure to ride with on a soft tail. (as a general rule)
TNOSE_E Posted August 13, 2010 Share Depends on rider weight. Set the Sag as directed by the manufacturer. there is no general rule on pressure. It's all about sag. Normally 15 - 20% of full travel. Search youtube, there are tons of vids on how to set sag front and rear.
AndreZA Posted August 13, 2010 Share 20-30% sag when you get on.

TNOSE_E Posted August 13, 2010 Share So which one is it? Depends on the type of fork / shock
Regard Posted August 13, 2010 Share Well, the best is to set both the fork and shock's sag to 25%. On the shock a rule of thumb that works well is to convert your weihgt in to pounds and use that to pump your shock in psi: i.e. if I am 80kg x2.2 = 176 pounds. Thus pump your shock to 180 psi. Also remember to pump your shock in the "open" position and not on propedal or locked out. From there adjust as needed. For the fork: take a cable-tie and loosley aply around the stanchion. Now sit with your full kit/weight on the bike and the sag should be 25% of your travel.

TNOSE_E Posted August 13, 2010 Share What happens if you dont pump it up in the "open" position? Nothing...... unless it is compressed for some reason while you are trying to pump it...... Oh and you cant sent the sag correctly if the gate is not fully open. And another thing Dont pump the fork while the bike is upside down if the valve is at the top of the fork. Try keep the valve at the top to prevent SOMEONE FILLING MY SHOCK PUMP WITH OIL! Same goes for Negative air chambers..
