Guys,

I'm thinking about the Giant TCR advanced sl frame set and was wondering if anyone's got one? What is your experience of this frame? I'm just concerned with the aero efficiency of the bike with that square down tube?

Hope to hear from you guys.

How important is aerodynamics on a road frame?

Time trial bikes, yes.

'Normal' road bikes? I am not so sure, unless the rider is a breakaway specialist and is riding with 80mm deep section wheels and a skin suit etc.

Most of the time we are in the bunch?

That said, I just got the TCR Advanced frame and its fantastic!

Seems stiff as hell and corners like its on rails with great vibration absorbsion.

I need to get fit and lose a good few kilos, but I cant wait till I can really give it horns and give it the attention it deserves.

You will definately not make a mistake in investing in this frameset. One of the most solid bikes I have owned. Just added some bikeporn of my baby.

I had a jol riding a TCR a friend built up recently - Ksyrium wheels with a Red gruppo, and weighing in at just shy of 6.5kg - and was blown away. Nippy and responsive. Loved it.

Alas, no :( I get to drool over every Saturday when I moonlight at the LBS. It belongs to the owner. I did have the privilege of being the first person to test her out when she waas built. I wanted to cry because I know I'll never own one…

Here's a pic of the scale on the bike stand:

I have the Giant TCR Advanced Frameset 2010(white).

Absoloutly blown away by this frame!!! Best purchase ever.I did alot of research before purchasing and and honestly could not justify the R10 000 difference in price between the advanced and the advanced sl frame.Used the saving on buying a decent set of wheels!

Just my opinion but the Advanced Frame is value for money, also I am not a big fan of the ISP!!

As for aerodynamics - a good mate of mine rode his SL advanced (with "square" tubing to one of the fastest times at IM70.3 in East London last year (in effect a 90km ITT).

So it can't be that bad
