Saw these wheels on chainreactioncycles( doing a bit of shopping) and came across these wheels. Price: R8600 Weight: 1150g!!

What do you think about these wheels versus zipp( for example zipp 404's) regarding weight and price. Think 404's are around R13000 and weigh in at 1350g?

The Zipp 303 would be better to compare to. These are very nice, good value for money. I dont ride Zipps, but from a engineers perspective Zipps are the best carbon deep section wheels around for most racing conditions.

What is the depth 50mm or 38 mm' date='is this a tubby or clincher?

[/quote']

Look like tubbies and the rims say 58mm so I guess that is what they are.

These wheels are 58mm tubbies, tere are the same ones only 38mm, also tubbie. Both cost R8600, but the 38mm weighs in at 1050g!! Lighter than Zipp 303 and R5000 less

mr PV. For most hubbers its the Name.

for Maruis, its the color to match his bike.

but it should be what you can afford.

Also look at the warrenty and weight limit.

... only my opinion.... smiley2.gif

I've just got myself a set for R5,000.00 (OK, second hand). Nah nah, nah nah!!!Tongue

One word of warning, how much do you weigh eugeneP. A lot of guys complain about broken spokes with American Classics yet I've had my 420's for 2-3 years, not one spoke broken yet.

So, if you're a lightie I'd say go for it. I can't wait to try my tubbies out.

So

If Popeye is right , then the things that matter are:

Build quality

Value for money

Guarantee

After Sales service

Brand not important at all or is this just one man's opinion?

I know of at last 4 makes of wheels (one of which is AM) that are all made in the same factory in Taiwan.

I think marketing plays a large part in people's perception of quality.
