Can anyone help which is a better buy between these two bikes? I was told the giant has a stronger frame. But I am looking for the bike which will last longer since I seem to ride my bikes a little too hard so simple want the better buy. I actually bought the Giant but only picking it up tomorrow so hoping I can change my mind if need be. Thanks

The specs on the phoenix are better, but I ride a Giant and it's been bullet proof. In this price range I would also seriously consider a GT Avalanche (2.0 or 3.0) especially if you are heavy on bikes. A year old GT avalanche 1.0 would be a really good buy for you - you should be able to get a 2009 or 2010 for 5.5K

I would recommend a Phoenix '09 model. Have seen some of the going for R4500 brand new. Only big difference is Deore RD with different decals.

I had one of these, and I couldn't have asked for a better bike to start off with, they are serious value for money IMO.

My uncle is a race snake and he started out with the phoenix and the only problem he had with the 09 model was that he had snapped 5 spokes on the rear rim just by riding in normal conditions but otherwise very nice bike, but wouldn't swop it for my Giant.
