New to South Africa, High 5 is one of the leading sport nutritional products in the UK and Europe, Focused on endurance sports like cycling, triathlon and running.

High 5 sports drinks contain new generation 2:1 fructose ratio, this has been shown though independent research to provide 50% more energy and deliver fluids faster than traditional sport drinks.

RACE FASTER

Though research conducted at Glasgow University and through another independent study, athletes who followed the High 5 Race Faster Guides and using High 5 2:1 fructose drink were substantially quicker than when using their regular brand of nutrition used the way they normally used it, for more info on these tests read the Cycling Weekly Test - http://www.highfive.co.uk/cyclingweeklytest.htm

High 5 will be available in South Africa from early February through CyclesProSA who are the new distributors.

For more information on these products you can take a look at the UK site http://www.highfive.co.uk/ or contact CyclesProSA on boyd@cyclespro.co.za or via this thread.

OMG the next freaking wonder meal in a small bottle with a big price....

Could you please provide me with the research conducted at Glasgow University, as well as the other independent study?

NOT only the deductions, ermmm I mean results, but also the study design and study intentions

Please define "substantially quicker", as well as the complete study design to measure this

Ohh.... and with test and research I mean academically peer reviewed tests and research, not some write-up, ermmm deductions by a journalist that need to fill column centimetres on a page in a magazine

Please?

High 5 make good stuff. Their energy bars are particularly tasty. A few of my mates have been buying the stuff from CRC the last year....so i hope your prices will at the very least be matching theirs. Good luck.

Agteros - all studies and research conducted so far is available on the UK site, including results and intentions of each study.

http://www.highfive.co.uk/ILUG_Study.php - subject did 40mile time trial and on average went over 8 min faster.

http://www.highfive.co.uk/cyclingweeklytest.htm - cycling weekly test was also 40mile and subject did on average nearly 6min faster.

We also plan to conduct a similar test here in South Africa in the coming months, we need to find a publication to publish the test and results and we're look at working with a university or sport science to conduct the tests.

On the topic of price all products are competitive with local nutritional products like Biogen and USN.

Once the product is here and in stores I will post a list of stores

See you are only telling half the truth. Their WHOLE nutrion strategy was changed.... I'm sure the same can be done with whole foods and fruit juices as well.

Not knocking the product, I'm sure it supplies the needed carbs (well I hope so!) .. BUT do not underestimate the effect of proper nutrition will have on performance.

I'd still like to have peer-reviewed research published in a scientific journal though., including research design. Also the nutrition for the "before" and "after" time trials

i see your point here Agteros but how many of the available sports nutrition/energy products have peer-reviewed research published in a scientific journal though?

well then they should stop publishing "research", shouldn't they? half truths do not engender trust

you spot on! however doesnt the relevance of some research mean more than no research at all? i may be totally wrong here and please feel free to correct me if i am but USN is probably the brand with the biggest market share in sout africa correct? millions of rands are being spent on a product that to my knowledge has no peer-reviewed research published in a scientific journal. my point is this there are so many products on the market that we take for granted work. i for one am impressed (slightly) if i see someone at least trying to scientifically prove that their product works and not purely rely on marketing hype to sell their products

I'd be keen to know what you mix in your bottles Agteros ... or what the product was that got you so grumpy. I first used High5 on an overseas trip 2 years ago, when we ended up doing more riding than anticipated and ran out of powder that we'd taken with us. A Belgiun friend gave me a few sachets ... it tasted good and it worked. No brainer - been using it since then ... and it lands here (sourced from Europe) cheaper than the well-known product (locally available) that I had been using before.
