  1. I dropped my Garmin Edge 520. It caused the screen to crack and the GPS can no longer detect satellites. What to do now? Do I just send it to Garmin and hope it can be repaired? Has anybody ever sent devices to Garmin for repair? If so, what process do I follow to send it to them? Any help will be much appreciated. I cannot fork out R6k for a new one.
  2. I would really have enjoyed the race, including the gravel section, if I hadn't been one of the unlucky bastards to get a flat on the gravel section. That sinking feeling when you see $ group dissapearing in the dust...

  5. Hahaha! Enjoyed your post! A lot of truth in there! Just not sure about the accuracy of the number distribution though!
  6. For the three flagged rides: 1:01 vs 1:02 5:58 vs 6:07 13:07 vs 13:30
  7. Dont know who is the saddest, you or him?
  8. Why is enjoying the competitive edge that strava brings to your training called "taking it too serious"?
  9. OK, so 3000 okes have ridden the same segment. The guy with the fastest time shouldn't feel that he has achieved anything. I must admit, my idea of an achievment must be warped then...
  10. Varies. I don't think I got flagged because the flagger thought the ride was illegitimate. I got flagged because the flagger was pissed off. Hence the three flags in 5 minutes.
  11. What is sad is that some okes who have never won a KOM can make judgements on the guys who are proud of their KOM's. It's stil an achievement - so what if it's virtual?
  12. Amen brother. I think we have reached consensus on this one.
  13. Try lining up 500 okes on a singletrack downhill...
  14. So you go out for a fun ride in the mountains and yes it's a lot of fun - you smell the fresh ground and hear the birds singing etc. Then you hit a popular Strava segment and some competitive juices start flowing. Should you now not try a bit harder? Should you not try and see how high you can get up on the leaderboard? Should you not try and be on top of the leaderboard? And if you do end up on top of the leaderboard after a big effort, shoud you not be pissed if someone flags you? It's exaclty the competitiveness that Strava adds to cycing which makes it more fun for me. Some people see that as "taking it too serious"
  15. Why is being competitive sad? So you reckon all competitive sportsmen should get a life? Go tel Usain Bolt not to try so hard in the 100m dash - its just sad.
