  1. Their mechanic called me.
  2. OK hopefully all sorted. Apologies received from the mechanic with offer of free service and apologies from myself for the rant!
  3. Sure the mechanic apologized but manager looked on and said nothing. No offer of compensation as I said . Perhaps understaffed.
  4. No compensation or apology offered as manager of the shop looked on when I complained bitterly the first time. As for checking my bike, I think that because I had been told that (in addition to new cluster with new chain) each of the front chain rings needed to be replaced because of slight chain suck on test rides I assumed that all was in order and done properly. R3k later. My mistake! Still, I can teach them a thing or two about joining a new chain and securing disc calipers.
  5. Another option is to mount your Go Pro under the seat post looking back wards. I did this in the last Argus and got great footage of all the guys I was overtaking! Footage looks bad if they start passing tho.
  6. Nope I wont be going back. Will stick with professionals at CL.
  7. You're 100% correct. Learned a good lesson. I should have test ridden my bike. But in 20yrs of riding never had such a problem. Usually the mechanics ride the bike to test the gears before you take delivery. But I normally dont have to check if the chain has been joined properly, front de railer at wrong height or brake bolts left un-tightened etc etc.
  8. IN-COMPLETE CYCLIST SERVICE: Took my MTB to a cycleshop in Peterplace 2 weeks before JHB Sprinclassic race. New chain, new cluster, new front chain rings new brake pads. Serious dissapointment to have to drop out of the Spring classic due to faulty new chain and unfastened brake calipers. Must be amateurs cos I could have done it better. Took it back again and in nearly 2 days they still couldnt get round to sorting it out. Took my bike straight to Cylcelab and Donovan kindly sorted it out while I waited .....no charge! brilliant. Now I'm complete.
  9. Anyone know where and how to download MTB ( or road) routes for a Garmin 705?
