  1. IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT: Due to a change in route for the ultra marathon, our crash race route has changed too. The new route will still take us straight down main road to Fish Hoek, we'll turn right at the circle and then make our way on Corsair way to the base of Ou Kaapse (this is the 25km mark give or take). From here we'll ride the new ultra route up and over Ou Kaapse. At the bottom we'll follow the route along Spaanschemat road, past peddlars and then left onto ladies mile extension towards southern cross drive (this is give or take the 42km mark for us, and the 9km mark for the half.) We then ride up Southern cross and along the old route on rhodes drive to the finish at forries (for the racing snakes, the finish line is still Kirstenbosch top gate). Ideally we'd like for everyone to ride with a clear road and since we now potentially meet the half runners earlier, we think it would be wise to start at 4am. We'll meet at forries at 3:45. (Only 15 minutes earlier ) Other than that, the group ride that is the wolf pack hustle stays the same. There will still be banter and beers!
  2. It was awesome! Do like splat and bring an extra mate each!
  3. Only 5 days away now. This is what we are racing for. The rare and highly coveted dog-tags! #bringyourhustle
  4. It brought joy to my heart and tears to my eyes as I saw the flicker of red rear lights dispersed around the Forries entrance. It was 4am and already we had a better turnout than the previous total of 4. The excitement was palpable as more and more keen cyclists rolled through. There were people on mountain bikes, single speeds, steel framed vintage beauties and naturally an array of roadies. After a brief warm welcome and a reminder of the rules of the road, the Two Oceans "Wolfpack Hustle" Crash Race was underway. A peloton of around 60-70 cyclists made their way to main road where the race officially began. Three riders saw an opportunity for a breakaway as the rest of the peloton made a gingerly start up to Wynberg. The breakaway lasted all of 5kms due to the combination of a strong headwind and an intensity shift in the main bunch. The pace lifted through Lakeside and soon enough a group of 5 racing snakes made a breakaway stick as they cruised through Muizenberg. Participants were met with some obstacles along the way. Some cars and red lights along main road made life interesting for all involved. The barriers at the start of Chappies meant that cyclists had channel their inner cyclocross and carry their bikes over the booms. We were kept on our toes as every 3kms there were a group of people setting up water points for the runners who would follow in our tracks a little later. The Chappies ascent in absolute darkness is one for the memory banks. With only your front light and the light of the full moon to guide your way, you almost listen to your legs screaming at you to stop. Up Chappies, the leading bunch became 4 as the 5th was lost to the darkness. The winning move was made by Donovan Le Cok successfully attacked the riders who remained up Constantia Nek. He held on for victory in a time of 1:26:13 with an average speed of 34.7 km/h. Anna Stelzner was the first lady to cross the finish line in an impressive time of 1:42:55 (average speed 29.5 km/h). Finishers were treated to some ice cold castles and a few Easter eggs as we toasted yet another successful Two Oceans Crash Race! Congratulations to all who made the 4:15am start and especially Donovan and Anna on winning the first ever and immensely coveted Wolfpack Hustle dog tags. Thank you all for coming - we'll see you next year! Attached you'll see the first gentleman and lady proudly wearing their dog tags as well as the official Strava top 10 on the Wolfpack Hustle segment for the day. Apologies to any of the finishers who may have finished in the top 10 but didn't use Strava. However if its not on Strava did it really happen?
  5. If you win this year, you'll definitely get your prize - they've just arrived in the post!
  6. Bring your bells on your bike and we'll look to the sky...
  7. Yes! Just pitch! And bring everyone and anyone on two wheels. Next year when it'll bigger and better we'll have a special prize just for the crazies on their SS - hope to see you there
  8. There definitely will be a content racing group for sure
  9. Certainly not! We aim to be off the route by the time the runners start which is at 6:30. Early nights all round!
  10. I back you!! Pull through! This will be the most important race of your life.
  11. The strava segment ends where we start at Forries. So yes we would miss the last M3 bit up to UCT. Last year the unofficial finish line was a sprint up the rise to Kirstenbosch top gate and then we rolled through to Forries so that the intersection at the M3 would interfere with any potential winning moves.
  12. This is the strava segment... so you can plan your attack!
  13. It's a proper race so people will be dropped... speed will be determined by how badly you want to win the elusive dog tag!
