  2. Anyone know where to find pics from Dirtopia festival DH?
  3. I hear you and you're right - Capetonians are slack in general when it comes to this kind of stuff. We are a bit spoiled here cos the guys can just head out to Paarl or Tokai anytime and have some fun. I would have loved to join, but had other prior commitments and in general I would find it difficult to get the entire day free for myself. As far as advertising: a lot of people avoid facebook like the plague... I ride Tokai 3 - 4 times a week and I saw no signs. I'm not saying it wasn't there, but it certainly didn't get my attention. Schools are great and very important so that's cool. It's the working guys that have the money and are hopefully willing to support financially, even if they can't attend themselves, to help grow the sport. I'm serious about the bank account. I'll put money in there today if I get the details. Can you put me in touch with Chris directly with regard to this?
  4. Werner Hattingh posted these... http://picasaweb.google.com/werner.hattingh/SirLowrySPassDownhill20100228?authkey=Gv1sRgCPGSjerzw9TsGA&feat=directlink#5443567143904410642
  5. Your_name, I completely agree . Unfortunately, I was not able to be there and have huge respect for you guys who are doing so much hard work that benefits the whole DH community. I was in Paarl early morning on Saturday and met some DH guys there. One guy did the road gap successfully for the 1st time and was super stoked - was awesome to see :-) I was surprised to discover that these guys had no idea about Sir Lowrys race on Sunday and realised that I probably also wouldn't have known if not for lurking on this thread. Which raises the question - isn't a large part of the problem that the guys are not yet used to there being regular races in CPT and that the advertising is not reaching everyone? This is not a criticism in any way - more like trying to get everyone to focus on how to increase support of these events so they are self sustainable. Also, does Chris or Vince have an account where guys can donate cash to support their projects? This would allow guys who can't attend to support anyway and prevent them from losing their own personal funds and giving up in future.
  6. Anyone know of a DVD rental place in CPT that stocks DH / freeride / dirt jump stuff?
  7. Anyone selling or know of someone selling a GT Chucker or similar.Want to learn to DJ.Lots of crashes expected so bike doesn't need to be in pristine condition, just want something strong... Can these bikes be ridden down Tokai DH course?
  8. CAP - nope, I'll try remember to take some on Sat morning.
  9. Cobus surfaced the first part of the new Tokai track (roots) yesterday and covered that nasty sea sand at the small double and berm. The plan is to get some water on it today so by Sat morning it should be sweet. Watch out for the short steep descent near the end, easy to go OTB if you overbake it. Very surprised that section was approved cos usually anything that steep is a no-no for erosion. Hopefully only the guys who don't drag the back wheel will ride it (probably wishful thinking). I really liked the old trail, which is now closed, but this one is also fun in a different way.
