  1. Thanks everyone for your input!
  2. Bike is a Schwinn Hybrid, only ride on tar. Wheels are Alexrims PC 19 Tyres are Continental double fighter 2 code 37-622 (nearly slicks, slightly bigger than racing bike tyres) Size 28 x 13/8 x 15/8 Max pressure is stated as 5 bar/70 psi Tube that had blow out after tyre came off wheel was 700 x 28/32C (has large valve). It is slightly smaller than the original tube which was a 700 x 35/43C (small valve), not available at local bike shop with large valve (much easier to pump up at garage). The tube had a seam and was about a year old. It popped and split down the seam for about 100mm after it was exposed to the tar. Is it possibly a problem using the slightly smaller tube in this size of tyre?
  3. I had a blow-out on my MTB on Sunday – have you ever had one? Tyre came off the rim, tube then exposed itself and exploded. I was only doing about 15kph. What causes this – pumped my tube to 3.5 bars, tyre says it can take 5 bar?? Maybe the tyre wasn’t properly seated in the rim? Could it have been caused by riding into a hole in the road – I didn’t notice anything before it just came off the rim. Could I have your thoughts to avoid this next time? Thanks
  4. Sounds good. Where is it situated?
  5. I'm looking at buying a Felt F85 for R8000. It appears to be prettey good value in terms of what I'm looking for. It has a Shimano 105 groupset, aluminium frame and carbon fork. Peddles aren't included. What do you think? Thanks
  6. Thanks for the help! I still have some homework to do before I decide which bike is suitable
  7. Yes, I have all the kit required. Which bikes do you recommend?
  8. I'm keen to start cycling on a regular basis. Budget is approx R10K- depending what I can get for that amount
  9. I started riding at the beginning of this year with a fairly old bike and now I'm looking for a decent bike. I need a size 54 road bike. I need help on where to start looking. I've been told that it's a good idea to look for a second hand bike instead of spending too much on a new bike. I'd appreciate your comments/input. Thanks
