  1. last year around September I did a route down the west coast, I really recommend cycling into Hondeklip baai, nice place with cozy guesthouses, decent coffee shop and flowers. You can then cycle towards Garries, on the way you'll pass the entrance to the Namaqualand National Park. We spoke to a lady in Hondeklip who owned the and organised an annual trek through the park and to the entrance officers of the park, there is a possibility of cycling through it if you have the right equipment and bike setup [which I did not], don't think you'll have a more spectacular scenery for flora, but in the park itself you'll be limited to camping. Also check out the railway reserve road from Lamberts down to Dwarskerbos, there are so many flowers and tortoises out during that time, plus a well kept dirt road with few corrugations.
  2. Hey fellow tourers and bike packers. What are the most amazing routes and tours you've done in our country? I'm busy piecing together a trip and I would love to hear your experiences and routes you've done! BTW I'm not looking at organised tours or anything, I simply enjoy mapping my own routes and doing them. Thanks again. Cheers
  3. Thanks for the reply guys. The safety issues in terms of signal etc will have to be considered, fortunately tely nowadays we have the tech for Offline maps and navigators, however the signal and communication would be an issue regarding injury etc. I am appealed to biking rather than hiking, but at the end of the day it'll be beautiful either way.
  4. Thanks for the reply buff, I guess the level of water from the tidals may also vary depending on rain conditions, but there is always the option to cycle back in if conditions aren't primo. Otherwise I think I'll be packing my tent just incase.
  5. Hey Team, I was wondering if anyone has any experience travelling through the transkei and wild coast. I'm looking at bike packing from port st John's to Morgan Bay. Ideally I'd like to keep my route as coastal as possible and not have to constantly swing inland, anyone out there with any knowledge or topos for the tracks running through the wild coast, is it possible to keep my riding along the coast through trails and jeep tracks? Thanks in advance, any info is greatly appreciated.
