News Flash: Our 24/7 National Incident Centre (NIC) received a report by 2way radio this morning from a Cradle Resident who Reported: At 09h25 Sunday 24/01/2010 whilst travelling south on the Beyers Naude Drive close to Zwartkops, a Silver 240 e Merc passed some Cyclists riding single file. A cyclists was seen going down in what seemed to be a 'Hit and Run'. Our Eye witness saw the cyclist fall, get bachk on their feet and move to the side of the road. Unfortunately our Cradle Resident could not stop to gather further info, however made our office aware of the incident. In the interests of ensuring the safety of all road users, we The Cradle Residents are keen to find out who the cyclist is, and their state of health, and possibly assisting in supplying accurate information to address this incident. We also request, that positive intervention and comment flow from this posting. We look forward to engaging with 'Organised Cycling' on this matter, and hope all who access the Cradle area will be equally proactive Regards Trevor

Regarding the wagon, I have had the pleasure of re-building 3 'bokwaens', which included wheels (150 year Great Trek celebration in 1988, where one of the wagons and oxen took 1st prize at Donkerhoek outside Pretoria.) Much like the wheelbarrow, the wagon was created by my direct off-spring and you 'Rear Ox' were trained to pull it. Your only saving grace at the moment is that you are a 'Os' and not a 'Skaap', however that remains to be seen. Cradle Residents, Cyclist and other interested and affected parties Meeting: All said and Done, we have had many comments made, some worth while noting, others just a good laugh (Cradle Route). However with the proposed meeting looming can we get to business. Here is my proposal to the Cycling fraternity: 1, Suggest the Organisation/s that should be represented at such a meeting 2, such organisations nominate your representatives to attend the proposed meeting 3, Suggest a Chairman or Co-chairmen 4, Proposed agenda items, and reasons why. 5, Confirm the Date, Time and Venue Likewise, I will consult with the Cradle and surrounding Communities and get their representation. Garth Mes has been at the forefront and is already nominated for this purpose. We are looking for workable, practical solutions. Your vauble in put will be appreciated.
