  1. Thanks mtb Josh, is it ok to stick to SPD style?
  2. Thanks Dirtbreath, good advice!
  3. Thanks Ian. So before I invest in shoes, will these do or or should I look around first? I here stories of some riders not being able to release in a fall etc. Looking to spend about R800. (pedals, not shoes)
  4. Thanks!
  5. Excuse my ignorance but do I have to buy specific shoes for these pedals or is there another attachment thingy? (I will probably laugh about this post in a few months time)
  6. Bought a 2nd hand bike which came with these pedals, what kind are they and are they any good? Thanks for the help. http://i111.photobucket.com/albums/n136/gaboon23/photo.jpg
  7. The reviEw I read on the merida says the rear shock is rubbish, I'm assuming a good rear shock is quite pricey. What your thoughts on that? Frame is a medium, 18.
  8. Cool, that's not too bad. Unfortunately too big for me. There was also a merida 800 dual suspension going for 9.5k, but want to first take riding seriously before upgrading.
  9. Thanks for all the replies, appreciate the feedback
  10. asked seller about the conflicting specs, he says it is in fact an early 2009 model. Check link attached, seems to tally up. http://www.giant-bicycles.com/en-AU/bikes/mountain/2178/31858/ ya kosmonooit, was considering importing an iron horse from them
  11. Will ask the seller about the chain now. He says he works for john Deere but will confirm on Tuesday. What does decent chain cost to replace?
  12. Found a comparison between this and a gt avalanche 1, the giant came out tops with the better components.
  13. Thanks coenie, are they lower specced components than the 2006 model? Are they still decent? Thanks stewie, will get all the info I can
  14. Thanks for the quick replies. SRAM x7 triggers and rear derailer, shimano m485 hydraulic discs, shimano deore class crankset with Octalink. Rockshox dart 2 with lockout. Etc.
  15. Hi, I'm new here, been trawling the classified section for the last week. I've put in an offer of 5k for a giant alias which seller has accepted. ( link attached) I cannot view the bike as the seller is in bredasdorp in the cape somewhere. Firstly, is this a good option for a first time rider? From the pics it doesn't look like it's been used much. He says it stock standard except for the pedals. Secondly, what is the best way to do the transaction? I've asked for his home landline number and work which he has given but are there any other steps I should take? Thanks.
