  1. I ride 2.4 on the front, no issues... Mud build up?
  2. Hmmm, on another forum they stated that the 40km is tough with some serious downhill sections and tuffted grass which I despise. Losa hills so it may well be possible
  3. Well if lots of guys bring bikes they will see the need hopefully?
  4. Thanks, guys, sorry for the repeat topic, did do a search first??? I have transported a bike a number of times on the train already, mainly the airport route. The carages are often quite full, but there always seems to be space close to the doors. I did a site visit to the offices and workshops last week, I will try and get the operations managers email address and chat to him a bit. He is a great guy and not a political appontment, engineer, so lets see what comes of it. Just for the record 2 black bags also work and some tape. ;-)
  5. So it seems that no bikes, except in travel bags will be allowed! Kinda odd.... I was really hoping a system like that in the Netherlands may be possible. Riding to the station and then from it would be enviromentally friendly and efficient. I think some rethinking here is required. Thoughts ... write to feedback@bombelaop.co.za, they may even listen??
  6. Hey, yip lets go and find out, troubling thing is that 1500m of climbing could be on one "hill" , hmmmmm Going to take it easy not really race and rather enjoy the views etc!
  7. Thats link was working 5 min ago! Seriously!!!!....................
  8. Well I bought a Merida 120-1500 for 15.5k! Such a sweet bike! Brand new, full XT, awesome shocks and great for both trail and XCM rides. So many marathons are tending towards more and more single track, trail bikes are becoming more usefull for them if you not planing on winning! Can definately recomened it.
  9. Just bought a Merida 120-1500 for 15.5. Awesome bike, great feel, lightish and sweet components. Brand new 2011. Msg me if you want to know where I got it. CT wont be an issue.
  10. Any cool info etc etc. Will be in Fort Dauphin
  11. Okay so lets narrow this down then Giant Alias? Yes Reasonable shocks, disks etc, 4000
  12. Thanks Chaps Hmm so there seems to be a few opinions on womens non womens specific bikes... I had a look at https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/81430-giant-alias-ladies-specific/ She is quite strong (did 30km for a first ride) so maybe fixing things and then a new bike will be best rather than spending money on two bikes.
  13. Okay so the Gals got a old trashy bike thats heavy and not very awesome. Say ten years old with shocks not worth having and ridiculously hard to shift gears. I made the "mistake" of swapping for a ride and we were both very supprised. So I need a plan here... Now, she is still starting out so theres no need to spend 10 000, but if I was to up grade what would you start with? Shock Shifters and 9 speed casset? or is it best to buy a new bike.... or a second hand hub one The chances are she will take things up more seriously in the months to come Quite a strong paddler, climber, runner etc so theres hope!
