  1. Well I hadn't heard anything by thursday last week so I sent an email to cape mail Friday 2am addressed to Deon and friday morning I was woken up by gate security for a delivery. SAPO had come and we drove to the nearest atm and I handed over r420 customs tax ????. This story had a happy ending which with all the negative stories I didn't expect. I do feel rather jaded now to order again without door to door courier service though. When I explained the horror stories Deon at Cape Mail that I'd heard on this thread about lost or non received parcels. He looked through a book and told me there was roughly a 4 month backlog on large parcels. He said the biggest reason mail gets lost in the system is down to poorly or inaccurately labelled parcels with the fault being the sender. He gave that Wish online company as an example, saying that only until recently did they use the correct tracking numbers. He said when it comes to registered or recorded mail and then he just shook his head and said no more, mmmmmm. This topic should have been 'HELP NEEDED IMPORTING INTO SA". I did send an email to BIKE-COMPONENTS.de to ask what i had to do to get orders from them delivered to my door without SAPO involvement but they said they couldn't help????. Thank you for everyone for your help and advice, it's been emotional, as Vinnie Jones would say.
  2. So I got confirmation from DHL tracking that my parcel was being dealt with at customs in Joberg, so I drove to cape mail in Epping with my international tracking number to explain my concerns. It had been captured on the system and was told it would more than likely arrive by the end of next week. I wont hold my breath but Deon the gentleman who I spoke to gave me this email address cptinternational@postoffice and told me to address the email to him if i didn't hear anything by friday next week.
  3. I wonder if it's worth getting my Xhosa neighbour to email and phone SAPO customs dept. and explain that she had asked me on her behalf to order the parts for her Son's Birthday etc... Nothing to lose now????
  4. Oh dear it would seem I've been lucky till now. Wish I'd started this topic before ordering already from bike 24 last week. This is the current status from bike 24. No doubt I'll be topping up my airtime monday and contacting dhl and bike 24 to get my package delivered to my door without sapo involvement. I will also also be contacting bike-components.de to ensure door to door delivery as the only option. I wont order from bike-components until I've had a chat with them. I'll keep all updated with my bike24 delivery situation as it unfolds. Those interested in combining on an order plz PM me.
  5. surely it stays with courier. recently ordered parts for brakes from amazon usa. fed ex or dhl cant remember to my door.
  6. I know I'm not a known hubber and probably pissing into the wind on this but....... I want to order from https://www.bike-components.de/ rims and tyres but 20 euros for delivery of rims then adding 1 pair of tyres increases shipping to 39.95 euros but order 20 rims and 20 tyres delivery still 39.95. Had a nice online chat in English about their delivery costs. Cos I couldn't understand why the tyres couldn't fit inside the rim box for just 20 euro's, even he thought it a bit odd but apparently that's the cost of a bulk order. Clearly an arrangement between them and DHL. Their currently selling oem panaracer slick gravelking 27.5" 42mm tyres for 8 euro's each bargain but not if I got to pay an extra 20 euro's delivery. They've got other great deals, check them out. I'm an Englishman (if that makes a difference) living in table view feeling rather frustrated at the lack of availibity out here. Anyone local interested in buying from them with me?
  7. Just a thought, surely something causing that much noise will create vibrations in the metal parts closest to the source of the friction. Perhaps try reducing air pressure front and back by 50% and get someone else to cycle the suspension for you, while you systematically feel over the frame, linkage etc.. but mind your fingers..
