  1. Hey hubbers, I've done a JHB mass and loved it, is there a ride in Pta tomorrow, seems awefully quite ?? Thx
  2. Thanks. I also tried Google, searches suggest carbon / alu can also bond much like alu / cromoly of years gone by.
  3. Hi clever guys. I wish to fit a carbon seat post on my alu frame, any do's / don'ts I should be aware of ? Thx, coi
  4. Ok, guys, check the smile on my face :-) Tried all of above and you all for sharing, the fix was a replacement seat clamp and heavy greasing. I bought an aftermarket alu clamp with fine thread stainless allen bolt with a higher torque strength than the original clamp. I may have gained a couple of grams in weight but re-gained the joy of riding my bike !
  5. Thanks outoftowner, that makes sense to me, ill try it.
  6. Rats !!!!! Creak came back after 10km. Next try will be copperslip. :-(
  7. Some feedback 1. Old age - nope, I'm not even 40 2. Seat and rails - nope, cleanedn lubed, problem remains 3. All other causes already eliminated (BB, wheels, headset, voices in my head, cluster, hangar, etc) 4. The seat clamp has a small locating pin that fits into the slot at rear of seat tube, removed it and refitted seat clamp. At the same time I cleaned and re-greased (teflon grease) as did I tape over the slot on the seattube below clamp to avoid grime buildup. Quick testride suggests its sorted, will report back after a couple of days.
  8. Thanks guys, I'm gonna try these suggestions 1 by 1 on my day off tomorrow. Will post the outcome, will start with the saddle as that the easiest.
  9. Thanks Cippo, one of the bike shops did suggest carbon paste but just made it worse. I have also had the press fit BB sorted so I know its not that - when I stand up and pedal there is no creaking, when I sit down its back and when I wiggle on the seat it creaks. Thanks Heinrich, but surely you can't have it cleaned after every ride, I never had this issue with other bikes ???? (Im also running a Tundra 2 with std Cannondale alu post)
  10. Hi, hoping for some guidance. Since new I have had some creaking noises on my Cannondale, the most common creak in the headset / steerer has been fixed but now the seatpost is driving me crazy. Tried a couple of bike shops (which I will not name and shame here) but they either did nothing or made it worse. Any suggestions please, I did clean properly, applied teflon grease and tightened and the creaks went away only to re-appear again. I have also cleaned and greased the seat rails, seat clamp.
  11. Safest (releatively speaking) inho is out with Brakfontein, right onto Old Jhb and right at Gateway, and then over the highway and through Centurion towards where-ever or right into Nelmapius over the new bridge and left onto Olievenhoutbosch and then to where-ever. I would not travel west or south.
