From June 17th to June 20th, participants will tackle a grueling 515km course with an elevation gain of 10,000m, starting and finishing in Pietermaritzburg. This winter event is not for the faint-hearted, as riders will be required to carry all their own gear, food, and supplies for the duration of the race. Regarding the cost, we understand that it may not be for everyone, but we believe that the value of the event justifies the cost. Additionally, while it is possible to ride the route unsupported for free, our event offers a unique experience and community that cannot be replicated. Many find traditional MTB events where you pay thousands more to be more their thing, but I can assure you that our Gravelist events and bike-packing, in general, is a truly unique experience.

Event Name: Burra 500When: 17/06/2023 - 20/06/2023Where: PietermaritzburgPietermaritzburg, KwaZulu-NatalCategory: Burra 500The Gravalist Series: Unsupported Ultra Cycling Gravel Bike Packing Events. 2023 will see three self supported 500km gravel races, in pure SA gravel heaven. First on the Calendar is the Burra500 - a self-supported bike packing race taking place in the beautiful KZN Midlands. From June 17th to June 20th, participants will tackle a grueling 515km course with an elevation gain of 10,000m, starting and finishing in Pietermaritzburg. This winter event is not for the faint-hearted, as riders will be required to carry all their own gear, food, and supplies for the duration of the race. With no support stations along the way, participants must be prepared for all weather conditions and ready to push their limits. You get a route gpx file and you ride it your way. Do it over the full 60 hour cut-off and stop where you like, or test your mettle and ride it non-stop.
