This past Saturday (02/07/12) was a very sad day for me, one of my friends that rides in our cycling group had his car stolen from the Groenkloof nature reserve's parking lot while we were out on the trail. Being a lady Groenkloof is one of the last remaining places in SA that I felt safe to ride my bike on my own this is no longer the case if crimials are blase enough to steal a car out of the parking lot on a Saturday morning when Groenkloof is at it's busiest. What concerns me even more is the fact that most of the visitors to Groenkloof on Saturday mornings are families with young children enjoying a day outdoors. The criminals who stole Patrick's car must have spent a substancial amount of time watching the visitors activities in the car park because the keys to the stolen car were actually left in another car nowhere near the car that was stolen. The car that housed the keys for the stolen car was locked when we returned and when the car was opened the car keys and three wallets were the only things missing out of the car which means the criminals blocked the signal when the car was being locked. This is a warning to everyone to not be misguided by a false sense of security when visiting Groenkloof you need to remain vigilent at all times. Has the management at Groenkloof changed recently, I have been noticing some subtle changes over the past couple of months?
