Hi Daniel I did the Epic last year and loved it - it is a really hard event but VERY rewarding. My partner and I could not get an entry for this year and was somewhat relieved as it was quite a financial, familiy and time committment to ride 2013. I live in the the Western Cape and have many friends riding the Epic again this year and I have been training quite hard with them despite not riding epic again - so in short I am fit enough to ride the Epic on short notice. I have been riding average of 900kms per month the last year or so - never stopped after last year's epic... I am 44 years old and have a wonderful family - wife and 2 kids - who are very supportive and also cycles a lot. My daughter is very good XC rider at 14 and represents our province. I cannot commit for the epic yet - although I would not mind if you put me on your list of possible people to ride with - perhaps as a reserve or something. Reasons for this is that I will have to check with my employer regarding time off and also check this with my family - last year was a big committment to ride - not only from my side but the whole family as it took up a lot of time and money to ride. Financially it is also a big ask...I will not be able to contribute halve of the costs - but part of the amount. We finshed last year quite comfortably - every day we had 1.5 to 2 hours spare. Our overall position was 386 out of 600+ entries. Let me know your thoughts. My direct email address is warren@leafcapital.co.za Regards Warren
