Have a belt from a Garmin 500, is it ANT compatible?

Can anybody tell me if its possible to use a Garmin heart rate monitor on a Bryton 21E unit? I know its ANT compatible, does that mean the Garmin's are ANT compatible?

Hi everyone just got a Silverback surplus 3 carbon MTB as a present. have been riding an GT avalanche 1.0 with Shimano LX set. Very happy with it! The new bike has SRAM X-7 with grip shift. I'm really struggling to get use to it and thinking to swop and go for XTR shifters and XT deraillor. Im I making a mistake? Dont really know SRAM very well!! Help!
