Event Name: Triple Challenge When: 4 November 2012 Where: PMB to Inanda Dam, Kwazulu-Natal Category: Multisport TRIPLE CHALLENGE Sunday 4th November 2012 FAST FACTS The Triple Challenge moves into a new decade having celebrated it’s 10th Birthday in 2011. This truly African experience takes athletes and teams on a multisport journey through some of South Africa’s most breath taking scenery as they Trail Run 20km from Pietermaritzburg to Camperdown through three game reserves, then mountain bike 52km from Camperdown through the beautiful valley of a Thousand Hills to Inanda Dam and end -off their race with either a paddle of 18km (with 2 short portages) for the Multisport event or a 7km Trail Run for the MultiX event. Athletes may enter as an individual or in a team of 2, 3 or 5 people with various options. Trail runners and mountain bikers wanting to race these specific legs may enter the Challenge Trail Run (10km or 20km option) or the Challenge MTB (53km) as stand alone events. It’s a great challenge for friends, clubs, schools or corporates but especially for the individual that wants to “Race Themselves” over this testing and scenic course in the heart of KwaZulu-Natal. EVENT FORMAT: - Challenge TRAIL RUNs 10km and 20km - Challenge MTB 53km - MULTISPORT (20km Trail Run, 53km MTB, 18km paddle) Individual: full distance on your own. Team of 2A: Athlete A runs 10km, Athlete B runs 10km, A&B both cycle 53km, A&B both paddle 18km. Team of 2B: Athlete A runs 20km, Athlete B cycles 53km, A&B both paddle 18km. Team of 3: Athlete A runs 20km, Athlete B cycles 53km, Athlete C paddles 18km. Team of 5 (can be Team of 4): Athlete A runs 10km, Athlete B runs 10km (or in a team of 4, A runs 20km), Athlete C cycles 53km, Athletes C&D paddle 18km. - MULTIX (20km Trail Run, 53km MTB, 7km Trail Run) Individual: full distance on your own. TRAINING DAYS Participants are encouraged to join the following training days on various sections of the route: Sat 1 Sept: 10km run, bike second ½ of run and continue ride to Comrades Wall. Start 6am Sat 8 Sept: run second ½ of run, full bike leg. Start 6am Sat 6 Oct: full run leg (start 6am) or ½ run leg (7am at Lion Park). Event Name: The Vulintaba Experience When: 28 April 2012 - 1 January 1970 Where: Vulintaba Country Estate c/o ROC Global PO Box 204, Kwazulu-Natal Category: MTB Vulintaba Launch The Vulintaba Experience is a brand new Trail Run and Mountain Biking weekend taking place at a brand new venue - Vulintaba Country Estate, near Newcastle. The event takes place over the long weekend at the end of April. This is when the heat of summer has passed and before winter has taken it’s grip to create the perfect weather for a weekend of action! To top it off, the event forms part of the annual Vodacom Winterfees which offers an abundance of pure, country fun and entertainment with a host of activities on offer to suit everyone. Vulintaba Country Estate is nestled in Northern KZN just 18km outside Newcastle and is situated equidistance between Johannesburg and Durban. Camping sites are avaliable on Vulintaba Country Estate.
