  1. Will try, but doubt our small LBSs will have choice of cranks to try. Might drive through to JHB over weekend. Thanks for the advice
  2. I posted length because of crank length question.
  3. Yep, I have indeed. The kind gentleman will get back to me with prices He raised a few questions that I would appreciate advice on: 1. Are 180mm rotors overkill? 2. Should I opt for shorter cranks? On point 2: I'm 1.72m and have only ever had standard length cranks. Will it be better to try 165mm? I've read other riders go for 165mm on the Tallboy to minimise rock strikes. PS: Thanks to everybody for all the comments, good wishes and congratulations. You are all most kind.
  4. Here is one: http://www.made-in-c...-Jet-9-RDO.html I contacted the seller, because no supplier in the USA would ship here. It turned out to be an Indonesian bike shop and this was their e-mail to me: Many thanks for contacting us. Here is our calculate : Niner JET 9 RDO Our Price : USD980.00 Qty : 1 unit Colors : ARTIC WHITE Size : S Total price at USD980.00 was including shipping charge and insurance using DHL Express. Let us know if you have any question. Kind Regards, Julian Purnama Yeah, $980 inc shipping, suuuuure. They insisted on money transfer, I told them to go to hell.
  5. Thanks Hairy For sure! The build is gonna take a while. Waiting for 2013 XT and 2013 Reba. I'll post pics of the rims and hubs soon. Hubs are at home and rims are on their way from JHB via snailmail.
  6. Even better if you can use PayPal. Those insisting on money transfer are running a scam for sure.
  7. Thank you! I was blown away by how light this frame is. Lifted it out of the box with one hand, expected to use a bit of muscle, but no - light as a feather! It came with a set of 3M frame protectors, a pouch of Finish Line Fiber Grip, a neoprene/velcro chainstay protector (in addition to the built-in one) and a very smart looking grease gun.
  8. Thanks Mike It is a medium
  9. And the winner is Hairy!
  10. Nope. Many Indonesian bike-related scams reported all over www.
  11. That too! Wow, you guys are good!
  12. Yep
  13. Guess what just got dropped off at my office...
  14. Say what??
  15. Aaaaaah, now we know! The Santa Cruz Tallboy medium has a low standover height and is fine for most people 5'5"-> EDIT: Silverback also has a 27.5 duallie in its new lineup.
  16. If you give us an indication of how much she is willing to spend and whether she wants a hardtail or dual-suspension, the folks around here will be much better equipped to give sound advice
  17. The new Silverback 27.5 range looks like tasty value... http://www.silverbacklab.com/2011_website_SILVERBACK/2013/images/syncra1.jpg
  18. At 1.62m she might have a problem with the standover height of many 29ers. She will HAVE to try all bikes on your shortlist. What about a 27.5? Bigger wheels than 26er, but not quite as tall as a 29er.
  19. Budget? Hardtail?
  20. If you can successfully purchase a new 2012 Niner Jet 9 RDO in small you are good!
  21. There is a reason why CWC is my fav SA online retailer: SERVICE! All e-mails are answered promptly in friendly and professional manner. So what happened? I enquired about the price diff on the Tallboy frame and CWC refunded me a healthy chunk of change - awesome! Thank you CWC (and thanks Wayne) you guys rock!
  22. Nice One of my favourites: "Numbers are facts, but they aren’t the truth of bikes. Riding a bike tells you the only information that matters and the only reality that is accurate." - Seb Kemp
  23. Thanks! What a relief!
  24. Glad you got it sorted
