Thanks Woofie. Just realised I've got a 27 and not the 29. Have decided to go with the general advice of 11 - 23 for racing and perhaps a 11 - 25 for my training wheels and when I'm feeling buggered after intervals the previous day!
Brilliant Tankman. That's exactly what I needed. Will take your advice on the 11 gearing. Makes sense. Much appreciated. Keith
Hi. Here's a newbie question: Need to purchase a new set of cranks for my Cervelo R4 now that my FSA's have been damaged. Have been riding on 172.5 39/53. Am considering the Dura Ace 7900 but spotted the new compact crank. How does the new Dura Ace 7950 compact crank (which is essentially a 30/54) change the pedalling action and gearing. Have got a 12/29 cluster. i.e., would pedalling up Ou Kaapse Weg with a 29 on the small chain ring be easier or more difficult when compared to the 39. And would I have to pedal faster or slower coming down Ou Kaapse Weg with the 12 gear on the 54 or the 53. Can't get my head around it and need a techie to help clear the cobwebs! Thanks, Keith
Hi. Sounds interesting. Could you e-mail a pic to keith.rosmarin@pixie.co.za Are they the 46 rims and what year. I'm riding Shimano which is a pity, but I'll check on cost of bodies. Cheers Keith
Good advice. What do you think of your Corimas? There does'nt seem to be too much of a weight penalty with the Corima Aero Plus clinchers. Why did you go for the Corimas instead of Zipps? Thanks Keith
Thanks for all the input, much appreciated.
Hi. Advice from Hubbers needed...
I want to buy deep section carbon clinchers for training/racing. I don't want to go for tubbies. Its between Zipp 404s or Corima Aero Plus. The Zipps are marginally heavier than the Corimas. I'm also looking at the Corima Aero Plus Tubeless. Does anyone have any advice on any of these wheels to help make up my mind.
thanks Keith
Thanks. Went out but no luck. I'm sure someone has a great jacket.
Thanks for letting me know. Will take a drive tmrrw. Can you remember if it was towards the top, middle or bottom of Smits? Keith
Hi. Got carried away with my descent on Smits Winkel near Cape Point (18 April) and lost my yellow First Ascent jacket that was supposedly buried in my rear pocket. If anyone picked it up, I'd appreciate a call - worth a bottle of wine!
